When my folks say ‘wanna go for a walk?’, I get so excited.
But I have a different reason for being excited – my NOSE! Don’t get me wrong, I love the walking and exercise. And I know that my people need that workout to stay fit.
Recently, my vet made it all quite clear to my folks. He said – “Dogs don’t go for walks, they go for SMELLS.” He was absolutely right.
For one thing, our noses possess up to 300 million olfactory receptors, compared to about six million in humans. And the part of a dog’s brain that’s devoted to analyzing smells is, proportionally speaking, 40 times greater than humans.
Humans have no idea what dogs can do with our noses. Our noses are the best part of our bodies. They make us very smart indeed.
There is some new research that shows dogs are much smarter than previously thought. And that’s all been proven by testing our noses.
This is great news. Cause there’s so much more we could teach humans, if they would only listen to us.
