WARNING: I have the same ‘Quirk’ as the Queen

I am thrilled to discover that I share a QUIRK with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.  Who Knew??

This quirk drives Roger, my husband quite mad.   He starts badgering me on January 2nd to take down all the Christmas decorations.

Turns out that Queen Elizabeth keeps her holiday decor up until February 6th every year.  That’s brilliant.  It gives me ammunition to diffuse all Roger’s arguments.  Because quite frankly – if it’s good enough for Queen Elizabeth – it’s good enough for ME!!

The Queen has been doing this since 1952 and her reason is a real surprise.   Click right here to check out the article to find out WHY she began this custom – it’s quite lovely.

My beautiful ten foot artificial tree can safely remain in my living room for the next three weeks.  It’s a classy thing to do.  We also have a ‘live’ tree in our den – that may have to exit sooner.  DARN – it still smells great!!

The last bit of decor to be packed away will be the garland from our stairway.  It greets visitors and lights up the house every evening.  A smile comes to my face every time I turn on the lights.

I do have one problem though – I love this little table top arrangement – but I’m not at all sure that I can convince my sister’s cat to stay there until February 6th!!

And now it’s over to YOU!   What are your beliefs and traditions about the ‘removal’ of Christmas and holiday decorations?  I’d enjoy hearing your comments – whether ‘Pro’, ‘Con” or just ‘Confused’.  Please share below.  Tell us about your favourite decorative pieces too!
