Wow! That’s quite the crowd. And what’s with all the purple?
As I’ve written before, as a professional photographer you get to do a huge variety of “assignments”.
My friend and colleague, Karen Fisher, is a CPA. She’s also a tireless fundraiser for Epilepsy Research and Treatment. A real go-getter.
But 10+ years ago things were a lot different for her. She suffered from severe epileptic seizures and was unable to work or enjoy life.
A little over 10 years ago, she underwent a complex surgery in London, ON which ended her seizures. After an extensive recovery, she resumed her career as a Certified Professional Accountant.
In June 2018 she held a large fundraising dinner as part of her 10th anniversary celebration.
She’s also an avid scrapbooker. This past Saturday, Karen invited 80+ scrapbookers to a gathering in Almonte. Together, they scrapbooked and raised money for Karen’s crusade for Epilepsy.
So, who’s she gonna call to take a large group photo in a small area with a 15 minute window to do it? Yep! Yours truly!
Oh – all the purple?? Purple is the official colour for Epilepsy. Who knew? Seems that everyone did except me. I was the only one there not wearing purple.
Tuesday March 26 was Epilepsy Awareness day. Our newsletter missed it by a couple of days, but we thought you’d like to hear about this close to home story. This group of scrapbookers raised over $12,600 for the cause. Keep up the great work Karen.
By the way, as a CPA, one of Karen’s areas of interest is in getting the most for clients with disabilities when it comes to income tax. If you are interested, let us know and we’d be happy to refer you to Karen.
