Have you got dirt under your fingernails yet?

As a kid, I loved June ’cause it was my birthday month.  Now I love it even more ’cause it’s the beginning of the gardening season.

Now understand – I’m a rank amateur at this pastime.  But I get such a kick out of decorating my deck with potted plants and herbs.  Of course that means that there is definitely dirt in my fingernails.  I use garden gloves all the time – but it seems a lot of dirt gets into those same gloves.

I have quite an assortment of gloves too!  There are three key pairs and then back-up and specialty ones.  What does your collection of gloves look like?  If you’ve discovered one all purpose style – please share your find with us in the comment section below.

The whole world of horticulture is so intriguing.  Last summer we saw MosaiCanada 150 at Jacques Cartier Park in Gatineau.  It was a stunning horticultural display and will return this summer.   Click here to get a sneak peek off this summer’s creation – short video too!  We plan to go back for this year’s creations.  Don’t miss it!

I suspect there’ll be more of this kind of work in the years to come.  In fact the city of Hamilton has just completed a fun installation called “Ralph.  It’s on my list of things to check out this summer too.  Click here or on the photo below to learn more about Hamilton’s fun creation.

Please share any links or photos of gardening delights that you’ve created or admire.  It’s great fun seeing what others are up to.  Pass this blog on to others who fancy the ‘gardening thing’. Funny how horticulture GROWS on you.
