I have a passion for horses and a very curious mind. One Saturday I was listening to the radio and heard an announcer talking about Secretariat, the #1 racing horse of all time. My ears pricked up while I slowly washed dishes and listened to a fascinating half hour of radio. By the end of the show I had learned some very cool stuff about everything from Cheerios to toilet paper to a champion horse.
I’ll admit that I enjoy CBC Radio and it turns out I was listening to a super show called “Under the Influence”. It’s a fascinating mix of business and consumer stories all rolled up quite nicely (just like toilet paper) into an absorbing (no pun intended) package of fun knowledge. I’m a much smarter consumer and business person because of this show.
This particular episode was called ‘Looking Out For #1’. It was all about #1 brands and the difference between those brands in Canada and the United States (they aren’t the same – EVER)!!
The coolest thing about “Under the Influence” is that you can listen to it online, in a podcast, download or even read it online with tons of cool visuals that go with it. Make sure you check out THE #1 horse race video of Secretariat winning the the Triple Crown in 1973 by winning the Belmont Stakes with the biggest lead ever!! Absolutely amazing!!!!!
Click on the graphic below to enjoy this #1 episode of ‘Under the Influence’ in whatever form you might enjoy. If you don’t have time to listen to it all at one time – do it a bit at a time. Alternatively you can read or scan the written materials and visuals to get what you want out of this great material. ENJOY
Let’s have some fun! Share your #1 fav brands – cars, computers, toilet paper, breakfast cereal – you name it! Be brave and leave your choices before you check out the show – OR let us know if your favs were in line with the #1 brands that are discussed. Share your picks in the comment section below……..
