For the past 26 years, we’ve photographed the winners of the Spirit of Skating award. This award is presented each year to both a Junior and a Senior skater from the Perth Figure Skating Club.
Former skating coach, Dave Thompson created the award in 1991. He continues to give it annually to recognize skaters who excel on the ice. However, they must also exemplify qualities of sportsmanship and inspiration to their fellow skaters.
Dave is a well-known local insurance and financial advisor in the Perth area.
This year’s awards went to Abigail Levac (Junior) and Lauren Miller (Senior). We photograph them at our studio and then create a commemorative plaque. The plaque hangs in the display case at the Perth Arena for the following year. It’s then given to the skater as a permanent keepsake of their accomplishment.
This year, I thought I might try something a little different too! We’ve had a long-term relationship with the Shannon & Robert Miller and family. On a personal level, we’ve created several family portraits for them over the years. We also designed their successful Miller’s Bay Farm website. With our help, Shannon created an engaging style for their popular social media and internet marketing.
I asked Lauren to bring some other skating related clothing to give me some different looks to work with. Here’s the cool Foto-Fusion montage I created from the studio shoot.
These montages tell a story about the subject. We will create these for athletes, children, and adults as well as pets. We’re also considering designing these using customer supplied images. Stay tuned for more on that in the weeks to come.
