Who knew the Scotch Whisky could taste so good with creme brule? Not us, until we attended a delightful evening at the “Heritage Whisky Tasting” fundraiser for the Friends of Murphys Point.
We also learned that “ey” on the end of whisky is the US spelling!
Perth Manor was aglow with candles. Tables were bedecked with an array of gleaming glasses and beautiful amber whisky poured for all to sample. It was an amazing experience to be guided with wisdom and wit by Ouidram independent whisky ambassador Brain McQueenie through the pleasures of four quite different single malt Scotch whiskies. After Perth Town Crier Brent McLaren’s stirring introduction, Linda and Gordon Craig of the Manor paired delightful culinary treats that accented each of the different whiskies. Local historian and raconteur Susan Code shared delightful historical tidbits about Perth, the town’s distillery beginnings and it’s larger than life cast of characters. There was even a foot-tapping traditional musical interlude provided by the talented trio, Cratur.
Although you may have missed the tasting at Perth Manor – you do have the opportunity to attend the second event at The Fall River Restaurant on December 12th at 7:30 pm. Treat yourself to this wonderful evening and prepare to come away with your taste buds and senses feeling very much in the holiday spirit.
