In the past few weeks we’ve been deluged with all kinds of information about the new cannabis economy. We all need to become students in this new era. Some of us may know more than others. Let’s help each other out as we navigate this new frontier.

We Got A Lot of Learning to Do
Now let’s talk about Cannabis and dogs. Whether you plan to use cannabis yourself or not – you need to be aware of the good and the bad of this new reality.
I’ve already used CBD hemp oil (no psycho-active properties) for my dog’s thunderstorm anxiety, pain and digestive upsets. I did my homework and made sure I was dosing appropriately. There is little concern about hemp CBD because it has no psycho-active properties (unlike marijuana).
Plus the likelihood of my dog getting into my bottle of hemp CBD oil are slim indeed. However, dogs are scavengers and they’re attracted to the strangest things whether at home or on a walk.
So as responsible pet owners, we need to be aware of the symptoms of a cannabis overdose. We must also be careful where we leave cannabis products, especially edibles. Just like they shouldn’t be left out for children to access – the same applies to your pets.

There’s lots of great information here to be ‘in the know’. Also a number of links to other stories about a dog’s suspected overdose and research into cannabis pet products.
I’m looking forward to cannabis pet products being available. I believe that they will be a healthier and potentially more effective solution for a lot of veterinary issues.
It’s an exciting time to witness this revolutionary economic and health transition. Canada is the second COUNTRY in the world to legalize cannabis on a national level. Uruguay is the only other country to do that before us.
I’d love to hear what you think of the possibilities for pet health and cannabis products. Have you had any experience to date? Veterinarians will increasingly be knowledgeable and able to offer these solutions to us.
