This is Lianne sharing a story about one of my favourite client Moms!
I was so impressed with a mother who called to book in her twin boys for our Magic Fishing Hole portrait sessions last fall. She very much wanted to have both boys in one photograph – and I got it – that’s every parent’s dream image – siblings together and looking great. I mean how cute are two little guys in overalls with fishing poles!!
However I made a suggestion. Children really have a blast using their imagination as part of the Fishing and Fairy portraits. In fact the whole experience of being a ‘star’ in their own little magical world is undoubtedly the best part – for the kids!! So I suggested that each boy have their own time alone ‘fishing’ with Roger and then we would do both boys together (although the set-up is really designed for one child at a time). She was happy with my idea and she booked the appointments.
The coolest part is that by the time they arrived at the studio Mom had thought more about what I had suggested on the phone. She said that she had changed her mind about having both boys together in one portrait. So would we just go ahead and let each boy have their own time with Roger.
Now I want you to take a look at some of those images Roger created for her. Can you see how each boy ‘played their role’ in totally different way?? Their parents loved watching each of the boys do their own thing and were thrilled with the way each boy’s personality shone through.
I can guarantee too that the kids had way more fun than if Mom had stuck to her original plan of putting the two kids together. She was definitely one smart woman who ended up making not only her kids happier but ultimately herself with a great series of photographs that let each boy be a ‘star’ for the day.
