Hooray – January 18 is the official Winnie the Pooh day!
I’ve loved Winnie the Pooh since I was a kid. As a young girl, the two books were presents from my parents.
For some reason – that bear and his buddies captured my heart. I remember memorizing Pooh’s poem:
The more it snows, tiddley pom
The more it goes, tiddley pom
The more it goes tiddley pom
I loved that silly poem created by that silly Pooh bear. Truth be told, I identified most with Tigger!
I’ve received a lot of ‘Pooh memorabilia’ over the years from family and friends.
This teddy bear was the first MAJOR Christmas gift I received from a boyfriend who eventually became my husband. That lovely stuffed English bear still sits on my bed every day. The two Pooh books are the original copies from my parents. In the background is a funky Russian version of Winnie the Pooh.
I purchased it as a young woman when I saw it in a sales bin at Coles book store. I loved the Russian illustrative art – so different from the original Milne drawings of the Disney animated version. Here you can see a close up version of that page.
Here’s the cover of that same Russian edition. I think it’s very cool. Love that I left the price tag on it too.
Are any of you Winnie the Pooh fans? If so – let’s share some of your Pooh history too. On the other hand, if you have another childhood book character that touched your heart, let’s hear that story.
