We got a call a couple of weeks ago from Beth Peterkin of the Friends of Murphys Point. (Beth wears “lots of different hats” but she was representing Murphys Point this time). She knew we were making videos at the studio now and wondered if we would be able to make videos of one of their concerts at the amphitheatre and record the Spirit Walk to the old Silver Queen Mica Mine.
Before we say yes to any project, we like to take a look to see what we are getting into. We met Beth at the park entrance last Monday night and got a tour of the concert venue and the walk to the mine.
Wow. Who knew we had such a great place right on our doorstep.
The concert we are filming takes place August 17 and the Spirit Walk to the Mine happens on August 24. Click here for more information
The Spirit Walk is a “Play in Motion” with park staff and volunteers in period costume telling the story of the miners and the Silver Queen Mine. The audience walks from one location to the next, where the vignettes of life in the 1800’s take place. As darkness falls, the audience don their hard hats and pick up their Mica lanterns for their descent into the mine.
It presents some interesting challenges to film. We are looking forward to it. The resulting videos will be used in the future on websites and for Grant Applications and even submissions for awards.
Oh yea! Halfway through the walk it started to rain. And that rain brought out a full rainbow against a dusty pink sky. Never would have seen that rainbow if it wasn’t for the rain.

Thanks Beth for thinking of us for this project.
