Who Do You Know That’s Ageless?

Do you wish you were ageless? I don’t think I do – cause I might still be in diapers.

If you could become ageless – what age would you be? Would you want to choose the age?

I always think it’s fun to discuss questions like this with friends, especially with a glass of wine in hand.

But recently I came across a CBC post that caught my attention.  It’s about a  lingerie model’s photoshoot that’s changing ideas about aging and beauty.

Her name is Mercy Brewer.  She is a 56 year old former supermodel from Scotland.  Photographs of her,  for the New Zealand intimates label Lonely Lingerie‘s Fall 2017 campaign are making big news.

Lonely Longerie’s founder Helene Morris says that they want to “challenge what we see in our media with a more authentic reflection of beauty and hope to grow people’s visual vocabulary.”

The photographs are stunning and revolutionary for this industry.  Click on the photo below or here:

“The beauty and fashion industries are so obsessed with youth, but the reality is we are all aging, and there are so many wonderful things about growing older,” Morris said. “So often the primary message around age is intervention, which is a frustrating response to such a natural, inevitable process.

Lonely’s founder Helene Morris adds that they want to “challenge what we see in our media with a more authentic reflection of beauty and hope to grow people’s visual vocabulary.”

Mercy Brewer, the model commented “”I believe we are in a moment in time where older women’s beauty has been a startling revelation. If we don’t recognize it, we, every one of us, deny ourselves a future to look forward to.

“Perceptions of beauty have and always will change, therefore I think we can conclude its standard is not set in stone, and new beauty is always waiting to be discovered,” she said.

I’m thrilled that women are becoming more confident and ‘real’ about the aging process.  I admire all the celebrities who embrace aging with the beauty of truth.  I also met a beautiful, dynamic and aging woman in the supermarket last week.   I don’t even know her name – but she is a stunner!

  1. I was at an event recently and I had not seen some of these people for a long time and this lady came up to me and said “I want you to know that you get more beautiful as you age” it took me back somewhat as I never think of myself as “beautiful” on the outside but work at being it inside. Like everyone else I have aged. I always try to look my best meaning I buy clothes that are classics with a twist and never go out without makeup and hair done. The wrinkles are still there and the other signs of aging are still there but somehow its ok. Would I want to be ageless, NO you embrace what you have and go with it.
