A heartfelt card can be a ‘care-all’ rather than a cure-all

Before 2010, I wasn’t a card sender.  In my dreams I wanted to be a card sender but life just got in the way.

Occasionally I’d remember a special occasion in time to go and buy a card, address it and get it in the mail.  It might even arrive in time for the actual anniversary or birthday. However, most of the time, I’d remember on the day… make a quick phone call and that would be that – another year bites the dust!

But that all changed when I was shown the ‘magic’ of SendOutCards. With the amazing SendOutCards system I never miss a special occasion and they do all the work to send out the fabulous card that I create sitting in front of my computer – never have to go to the store or mailbox!! How cool is that??

DonSandsHowever, I experienced the REAL POWER of a heartfelt and unexpected card when my brother developed cancer in 2011. He was feeling very low (as anyone with that diagnosis would be) and was in need of some hope and inspiration. I’d heard many stories about other SendOutCards users who asked their SendOutCards network of people to send a “card of kindness” to someone who could use a boost.

So I thought, “What the hell, might as well give it a try.” I circulated my brother’s story and his address to a few friends in my SendOutCards network. About a week later, my brother Don began receiving inspirational, funny and encouraging cards in the mail. Every day for several weeks, cards would arrive daily.  Most were from total strangers who simply cared enough to send a card.  That’s the power of sending an unexpected and totally caring card to someone.

Did it cure him? Sadly no. But it did lift his spirits at a time he needed it the most. As we come to the second anniversary of his passing, I will always be grateful to all those people who took the time to contact him, and to SendOutCards for making it so easy and convenient to send a card whenever the spirit moves you!

In case you wondered – I’m a HUGE card sender now.  It puts a smile on my face every day and I know I‘m sending out a daily smile to someone else too.
