About this time last year, we received a very interesting phone call. A a couple were in the process of selling the family farm. It had been in the family for multi generations but now was the time to move on. As you can imagine, there was plenty of nostalgia in that house, in the barns and around the property.
It sold much faster than they expected. Suddenly, the final move had to take place sooner rather than later. Patricia & Dale wanted some family portraits taken around the farm before the moving van disappeared down the long lane with all their possessions.
Their two grown children now lived several hours away with families of their own. However they were keen to ‘come home’ in time for the portrait session. Their son confided that when Mom says come – you come!
Here’s a small slide show of some of their favourites.
The session was scheduled the day before the final move. We created many portraits for them to reflect their family and history. Of course they wanted the “formal” portrait under the apple trees with the fields and barns in the background. Next was Mom & Dad with their antique car. The ‘fun’ portrait was the whole family casually walking hand-in-hand down their lane way. Each of their “kids” had a portrait at their favourite childhood place to play – the big tree and the rock wall.
These portraits will bring priceless memories through the years. They will be treasured forever. We were thrilled and honoured that they trusted us to create those magic moments in time.
