Robin Williams and “When I’m Sixty-Four”

Today, my hair’s getting the full summer breeze treatment.  I’m cruising along the highway, bopping along to good radio music thumping through my Mini Cooper speakers.  The announcer comes on and remarks that ‘today is the day that Robin Williams would have been sixty-four”.

In an instant sadness sinks into my heart remembering Robin’s death, less than a year ago.   What a tragic, tragic loss for all of us.  Simultaneously the Beatles’ song “When I’m Sixty-Four” starts playing inside my head.

“Will you still need me when I’m sixty-four”.  A powerful line of lyrics from my youth that touched me then but SUPER touches me now.  Today,  realizing that Robin Williams will never turn 64,  starts tears dribbling down my cheeks.

YES, YES and YES again!!  We still need you Robin!!   In a ‘click’ we can access archives bursting with the dynamic range of materials that he created for us.  God bless the internet! (that’s something I don’t do every day)
