WOW – it’s not often that we agree about heading in the same direction at the same time!! At the Newpark Resort near Park City, Utah.

This photo is a little teaser for our next newsletter.  We’ll give you a wee photographic travelogue with some photos of our recent trip to Utah.  (We promise not to bore you)

We did want to tell you about a great tip offered by a Delta Airlines representative.  It’s a customer rights issue – that we didn’t realize until she told us.  We want ALL of YOU to know, if you don’t already!!

Here’s our brief back story.  We booked our tickets with Delta Airlines, about 6 months in advance of our trip to Utah.  They changed our flight itinerary three times before our actual departure date.  We accepted the changes, though not entirely happy with the much earlier initial depart time (we aren’t early morning folks and had to get up at 4:00 AM). The eventual five hour layover in Detroit, on the way home was also a downer that would get us tucked into our beds around 1:00 AM after our drive home from the Syracuse airport.

A day and a half before we left to come home we decided to see if Delta could do anything for us.  Nothing possible through online attempts without a GREAT deal of expense.  Eventually Roger decided to call a real person.  WARNING – WARNING – this solution will only work if you talk to a real airlines representative. So be patient enough to wait on the line or leave your number for a call back.

HERE’S THE HOT TIP……….. If an airline changes your itinerary with more than an hour difference from your original ticket purchase confirmations – you have THE RIGHT to ask and receive times that are in line with your original itinerary.  THE KEY is – you can only ask ONCE! So wait until a day or two before you leave or return to ask for any changes. That’s what we did and we shaved 4 hours off our return flight.

The moral of this story is to know your rights and be patient enough to wait and talk to a real live person.

Everyone seems to have either great stories or horror stories regarding airline services.  If you’ve got one that you’d like to share we’re all ears.  Travel tips and other travel comments also welcome- please share in the comment section below this post.
