In the last three days I have been ‘hit over the head’ with a recurring message.
Basically it boils down to this….
IS TECHNOLOGY MY TOOL? or HAS IT MADE ME ITS TOOL?
My pride and intelligence tell me that I’m smart enough to use it as MY tool. But, and it’s a big BUT – am I deluding myself? Could I be ‘addicted’ (like almost everyone) to technology distractions?
On three separate ‘chance’ moments I was challenged by the question above.
- The first was on the CBC radio program ‘The Current” with an episode from their series called “The Disruptors”.
- Next was a chance click on Netflix to a TED Talk given by Tristan Harris
- The third was a random search to a second Tristan Harris presentation that led me to a website with a mission designed to foster technology designed for human values.
What I have learned – ticked me off.
What I learned also inspired me.
What will it do for you?
To honour what I learned – I deliberately HAVE NOT put links in each of the three points above. I’m conscious of NOT distracting you. Instead, I’ll make it short and simple. I want to introduce you to the “Time Well Spent” website. Click the link or the image below.
You’ll be amazed at what you learn in that intro video (time – 3:48). Wonderful and creative ideas for technology that helps us – NOT distracts us. Be sure to click on the video image that matches the one below. I promise you it will be ‘time well spent’.
I’ve signed up for more information about this movement. My plan is to provide more fascinating posts in the future. I also plan to do my best to honour every human who chooses to read what I share. I hope to make your life better in any way that I can.
Please share your comments below. What’s the tech time waster that bothers you most of all? Would you like to see technology serve YOU (not the other way around)?
