No two families are the same and no two family portrait sessions are the same either. That being said, over the years we have developed and perfected several popular styles of portraiture that appeal to our varied clientele.
Outdoor portraits are one of the most popular styles. There are many consideration in planning and executing a successful outdoor portrait session. These include, time of day, weather and scheduling, location choice and clothing selection. We cover all of these and more during our consultation prior to the session.
These sessions are designed to include props and features that highlight your family and what’s important to them. It might be a particular location (a cottage, your home, a boat, the golf course…). It might be a vehicle (car, boat, airplane, motorcycle). It might be sports related. It could include hobbies or other recreational pastimes that the family enjoys.
The studio has much more controlled lighting. That means we can create very dynamic portraits in controlled conditions. These portrait look great in either colour or dynamic Black & White or warm sepia toning.
This technique is great for creating family portraits. Each person is photographed individually in the studio. After selecting the “best” image of each person, Roger retouches and assembles them into a group. Each person’s personality gets to shine through so that everyone is seen “In Their Best Light”.
